Having proven itself in ARTEC’s self-propelled sprayers, Volvo Penta’s D5 engine was the obvious frontrunner to help the KUHN Group develop a new era of ultra-efficient, autonomous solutions for farmers – while expanding their partnership even further.

After switching to Volvo Penta as its exclusive engine partner in 2015, SILOKING Mayer Maschinenbau GmbH has since celebrated the delivery of its 3000th SelfLine self-propelled feed mixer. Opening up a range of power options, while enabling major savings in TCO, the D5 and D8 engines have also paved the way for more streamlined machine production and emissions compliance.

When developing their Tiger 6S, one of the largest and most productive sugar beet harvester manufacturer ROPA turned to their long-time engine partner to develop exactly the kind of reliable, immensely powerful and high-torque/low RPM power source they can depend upon.

When stricter emissions legislation required Volvo Penta to upgrade its D16 industrial engine, it also took the opportunity to improve its power output and fuel efficiency. Successfully meeting these objectives came down to developing new diesel engine technology and hours of vigorous testing.

New 5 and 13-liter engines with complementary aftertreatment systems are being revealed for the first time at Agritechnica, a leading international trade fair for agricultural machinery.
