The new, larger, and more versatile Volvo Penta IPS propulsion package is a true piece of state-of-the-art engineering – prepared for a range of energy sources while featuring a new level of premium support and innovative features such as EcoMode.
Combustion engines
Powered by two Volvo Penta D13 engines, available in 700–1000hp/515–735 kW variants. All Volvo Penta combustion engines are approved for HVO 100/biodiesel use.
Steering angle up to 40°
Delivering unrivaled levels of maneuverability, precision, and control even in the tightest of quarters, while also enabling unique features like Volvo Penta Assisted Docking.
Upper gear
Designed for seamless and silent shift at low speed below 20 rpm per minute, the upper gear enables the use of the clutch to seamlessly engage the power sources.

Volvo Penta IPS superyacht propulsion technology
With the Volvo Penta IPS, you can move between ports faster and more efficiently compared to an inboard shaft. Forward-facing twin counter-rotating propellers work in undisturbed water while the propeller thrust is parallel with the hull, so all power drives your boat forward.
