The Volvo Penta D16 IMO III engine delivers powerful performance from a 16-liter marine engine and meets and exceeds the requirements of the latest IMO Tier III emission regulations. The D16 MH/MG IMO Tier III marine engine package is designed to sustain high backpressure while delivering strong power, efficiency, and reduced fuel consumption. The D16 IMO III package is available for propulsion, auxiliary use, and as a complete marine genset. The proven Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology offers a quiet, compact exhaust aftertreatment system that’s designed for easy installation.

Flexible SCR installation

The D16 IMO III package incorporates an SCR solution specifically optimized for marine use. Exhaust gases are mixed with DEF (diesel exhaust fluid)/UREA (32 to 40 percent) in the SCR unit, which includes a separate UREA injector pipe. The two alternative exhaust outlets are designed to meet marine standards (6" bolt flanges) to facilitate easy installation.
