The Miami International Boat Show (MIBS) is a must-attend event for marine enthusiasts worldwide, showcasing the latest in boating innovations across six iconic locations in South Florida. From kayaks to superyachts, the show brings together hundreds of thousands of attendees, offering an unparalleled glimpse into the future of boating.
Volvo Penta is thrilled to return to MIBS, taking place February 12–16, 2025, to spotlight its integrated “helm-to-prop” approach that is redefining easy boating with a focus on making the experience more accessible, intuitive, and enjoyable.
Volvo Penta will display its innovative marine products at the Miami Yacht Show at Herald Plaza as well as featuring six Volvo Penta-powered boats in the dock slips at the adjacent Venetian Marina. The overall aim is to showcase a wide range of solutions designed to enhance life on the water.
At its main booth, #HP4P, visitors will dive into Volvo Penta’s “Forward is the Only Way” campaign and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Forward Drive propulsion system through vibrant LED displays premiering new storylines that show the company’s journey to attract a variety of active, outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy surf, serenity, fun, and family and more. In collaboration with OEM partner Chris-Craft, these visuals will illustrate how the technology is reshaping boating for a broader audience through recent launches like Twin Forward Drive and Joystick Surfing.
“Our objective is to continually enhance the experience for our current customers while reaching new audiences and exploring untapped markets,” said Jens Bering, vice president of marine sales for Volvo Penta North America. “The solutions we’re showcasing at MIBS underscore Volvo Penta’s ability to innovate and adapt, shaping a seamless, sustainable, and connected future for boating.”
To demonstrate the versatility of its leisure boating portfolio, Volvo Penta will display its V8-400 gasoline engine along with a comprehensive range of powerful and fuel-efficient diesel solutions including the D13 IPS 1350 package, D6-400 with DPI, and IPS30.
Interactive touch screens and a helm display will allow attendees to engage with integrated technologies, including features like Glass Cockpit, Joystick Driving, and Watersport Control. An immersive virtual reality (VR) display of the Assisted Docking system will also give visitors a hands-on look at how Volvo Penta’s intuitive solutions are making boating more user-friendly.

Volvo Penta-powered boats available for sea trials throughout MIBS will be located at dock slips 301-306, including the Cobalt R35 and R31 Surf dayboats and Paradigm’s Damascus 296 Surf watersports deck boat, all equipped with V8 and Forward Drive packages. This system combines Volvo Penta’s forward-facing, contra-rotating propellers with its Duoprop technology, delivering exceptional thrust, precise tracking and quick acceleration. Positioned under the hull, the system minimizes noise and enhances comfort for a safer, more enjoyable boating experience.
Volvo Penta diesel sterndrive solutions show how a clean, open transom can enhance the on-water experience. Attendees can experience this design as well as other premium features and power on the MJM 42 with Twin D6 440 DPI and Volvo Penta’s new Assisted Docking for DPI feature and the Sabre Yachts 43 with Twin IPS 600. The Southport 30 FE will run on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), demonstrating Volvo Penta’s commitment to renewable diesel as a viable drop-in alternative and showcasing how the company is helping to drive sustainability forward while ensuring accessibility and reliability for boaters.
“We are on a journey to bring alternative options to customers who care about range, who care about comfort and who care about the environment and the impact that engine technology can have on it,” said Bering. “Whether seeking thrills or relaxation – from lakes to coastal waters – our helm-to-prop approach is unlocking endless opportunities to enjoy life on the water.”
