Boating Dreams: A passion that runs in the family

The passion for boats and boat life made Swedish brothers Conny, Jimmy and Billy choose the same path and become marine technicians. Now they run a successful boatyard together in the outskirts of Stockholm, Sweden.

The idyllic archipelago of Stockholm is home to a number of beautiful places; one of them Skurusundet, where the boatyard Mareco is situated just next to the water. This is where Conny, Jimmy and Billy Gustafsson spend their working days, serving boats and attending to their customers in every way. Authorized by Volvo Penta, they belong to the broad network of qualified service dealers around the world.

Their father started the company in the early 80´s, and for many years the boatyard was a playground for the young brothers. Here, they could build things, fix things and the passion for everything boat related slowly grew. A passion that is needed in order to do a good job, agree the brothers.

Running a company together as brothers comes with a lot of advantages, but not only. One thing that has a slightly negative touch is the fact that they don’t see each other a lot outside of work. However, they think that they probably spend more time together than most brothers do. And when sharing their spare time, it is often on-board a boat together with their families.

“I really enjoy working with my brothers and my father in our family company and I hope we will do it for many more years to come,” says Jimmy.
