The durable titanium-ceramic OceanX coating, which is applied using a state-of-the-art electrodeposition process and covers the entire drive assembly, makes the Volvo Penta drives four times more resistant to galvanic corrosion.
The OceanX package also includes two electronic sensors that deliver audible and visual warnings to alert boaters to the presence of water in the bellows area and the quality of the drive gear’s lubricant, which are indicators of potential corrosion.
OceanX was originally introduced for Volvo Penta sterndrives in 2009 and is now being offered on Forward Drives as well, to extend the benefits of corrosion protection to the growing number of oaters enjoying water sports.
“Our unique OceanX system gives peace of mind to Forward Drive boaters when running in salt or brackish water,” said Jens Bering, vice president of marine sales at Volvo Penta of the Americas. “It’s the latest in our series of Easy Boating product innovations, designed to make the boating experience easier and worry-free.”
The OceanX coating can be seen in Booth 1203-1204/1225-26 at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show Oct. 31 – Nov. 4.
