The journey toward decarbonization

Renewable fuel engines

Renewable fuels are a different way of powering industrial engines – without compromising power or performance. The proven emissions technology and innovations of today lead our customers and us toward net-zero emissions tomorrow.

Journey to net zero with renewable fuel engines

As a renewable fuel resource, hydrogen can help support your company's decarbonization strategy. It is as efficient as traditional diesel engines with lower exhaust emissions but potentially with lower exhaust emissions. We recommend Green Hydrogen fuel, created through water electrolysis using solar, wind, and water power sources, for a carbon-neutral hydrogen production cycle.

Biofuels - HVO engines

Volvo Penta approves the use of hydro-treated vegetable oil (HVO), neat or blended with conventional diesel, in all of its engines globally, enabling a reduction of fossil CO2 emissions by up to 90%. Volvo Penta engines do not need any type approval or specific certification for HVO usage.

HVO is a paraffinic renewable fuel, also known as “synthetic diesel”, which can be produced from a variety of vegetable and animal sources. It follows the CEN standard, EN15940, for use in diesel engines.
