Stage V
UN Sustainable Development Goals

Volvo Penta's contribution

By 2050, two-thirds of the population will be living in cities. This, combined with a lack of valuable resources and unprecedented pressure on the environment, means we all have to find a more sustainable way of living. This is our contribution to UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Climate

Target #1

Reduce emissions from our operations by 50% by 2030

Reducing our climate impact is more than just the products we make – it’s how we make them and transport them too. With locations all over the world, we are taking steps to reduce the emissions linked to how we do business.
Target #2

Reduce absolute emissions by 37.5% by 2034

By 2034, we will reduce absolute emissions by 37.5%. This includes emissions from our operations, products and transport. Electrification will be key to this transformation.
Target #3

We strive for increased use of sustainable alternative fuels

All Volvo Penta diesel engines can use HVO fuel, while electric vehicles will benefit from Fuel Cell development from Volvo Group. We will continue to look for new, sustainable alternative fuels along with Volvo Group.

Resources

Target #1

Increase circularity in our product offering

We will increase recycling of our products through traditional recycling methods as well as remanufacturing. This increased circularity will reduce the amount of new resources needed in our manufacturing process.
Target #2

Zero landfill operations

We are committed to reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfill. Our operations in Lundby and Vara in Sweden will be “zero waste to landfill” by 2025 – followed by all Volvo Penta sites globally by 2030.
Target #3

Purchasing sustainability roadmap

We are developing our plan and timeline and working together with our partners and suppliers to set targets and align on our sustainability goals.
Target #4

Substances of concern

We are working to phase out substances of concern and conflict materials from our manufacturing process.
