Volvo Penta has signed an agreement naming Swecon as the nationwide distributor for its industrial segment, managing sales, service, maintenance, and support for Volvo Penta’s industrial customers in Sweden.
For Volvo Penta, the partnership is a result of the ongoing work to strengthen the dealer network to better serve and support customers within the industrial and marine segments.
“The industrial side of Volvo Penta’s business has grown substantially over the past decade and represents today half of Volvo Penta’s business. In the beginning, it made perfect sense to have one joint dealer network for all our customers. However, today we see that our customers are becoming more and more specialized, and we need to follow the same path to secure the best customer experience”, says Hannes Norrgren, head of Industrial Business Unit at Volvo Penta.
Volvo Penta’s industrial business covers subsegments like mining, agriculture, special vehicles and construction equipment, as well as power generation and battery energy storage solutions.
“By collaborating with Swecon, we will be able to provide a high quality and available network of dealerships and service spots in Sweden. In addition, Swecon is already familiar with Volvo products through its longstanding partnership with Volvo Construction Equipment, which will safeguard a quick onboarding and strong competence. I’m very much looking forward to developing our business together with Swecon”, he continues.
Swecon and its contracted facilities within Lantmännen, will offer sales, service, repair and parts to the full range of Volvo Penta’s industrial customers. The agreement makes Swecon even more specialized in Volvo products and brings the possibility to leverage on synergies through its unique and nationwide network of 34 service spots.
“This is a natural step for Swecon, well in line with our strategy to grow our business”, says Hans Olofsson, Business Area manager at Swecon.
“Volvo Penta’s industrial segment is close to our own line of business, but it is also close to our existing customers who in many cases already have products powered by Volvo Penta”, he continues.
The new dealership setup will go live during the first quarter of 2024 and includes only the Swedish part of Swecon.
“The current dealerships will continue delivering for as long as their contracts are valid. It is our absolute ambition that current dealerships nor customers should be negatively affected in the transition. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our dealerships, of which many have been with us for a long time, for our time together and for their professionalism during this period”, says Hannes Norrgren.
